Some of the major celebrations in India that are celebrated all throughout the country are Ganesh Chaturthi, which is celebrated with firecrackers, and clay idols are placed in the sea or rivers. And Gandhi Jayanti, which is a celebration of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who helped ease poverty, expand women's rights and organized protests. The religous days celebrated are Ram Navami which is Birthday of Lord Rama, Buddha Purnima, which is birthday of the Buddha and Krishna Janmashtami/Gokulashtami, which celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna. Other festivals that are celebrated in India are common such as New Years day, Good Friday and Christmas.
